Knots for NICU Expands to Two Chapters with Club Fairs at ACP High and Basha High/AMS!August 8, 2024 - Knots for NICU expands to two chapters within Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) for the '24/'25 school year -- with the club founder and veteran club members expanding with a new chapter in its inaugural year at ACP (Arizona College Prep) High School, while continuing club members at Basha High School operate the original club chapter in its third year, welcoming both middle schoolers from AMS and Basha high school students.
Josie and Bill Boyle Donate $1,000June 9, 2024 - Josie and Bill Boyle of Mesa, Arizona donated $1,000 to Knots for NICU club! After seeing Fox10 news segment on the preemies that are thriving in Knots for NICU club, the philanthropic couple donated to help bring burial gown and hat donations to even more families this year!
Banner Desert Medical Center Hospital Annual End of Year Donation EventMay 14, 2024 - The final donation event for the school year culminated in 12 members from Knots for NICU donating 128 items (hats, headbands, blankets, and burial gowns) to BDMC hospital in Mesa, Arizona. BDMC nurses even facilitated students being able to donate directly to two families live during the event!
HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Donation EventApril 15, 2024 - Knots for NICU donates 5 burial gown sets to HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea in Scottsdale, Arizona, in honor of wedding gown donor Mitzie Warner. Club president Karis Wales meets with their bereavement coordinator and NICU nurses to learn more about the need of grieving parents.
St. Joseph's Hospital Donation Event - First Burial GownsFebruary 22, 2024 - Knots for NICU donated the first burial gown sets - 7 in total made from a donated wedding gown, in addition to 120 items (hats, headbands, blankets) to St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. The handmade items were crocheted and sewn by the club's 35+ middle school students, volunteers, and hats collected from community members. The students designed, constructed, and sewed the burial gowns at school with donated sewing machines and volunteer sewing instructors.
Phoenix Children's Hospital Donation Event for World Prematurity DayNovember 17, 2023 - To honor World Prematurity Day, Knots for NICU donated 130 items (hats, headbands, blankets) to Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) in Phoenix, AZ. The handmade items were made by the club's 35+ middle school students, and collected from community members from all over Arizona, from Texas, California, and even England!
March of Dimes' Fall Philanthropic Fundraiser EventNovember 12, 2023 - Knots for NICU was featured at March of Dimes' Signature Chefs Fundraiser Event with volunteer opportunity at Talking Stick Resort, Scottsdale, AZ.
Halloween Costume for NICU Babies Event (Banner Desert MC)October 22, 2023 - Knots for NICU co-founders and club members made 42 different Halloween costumes for babies in the NICU of Banner Desert Medical Center, and donated 15 hats to BDMC.

Mike and Gail McLaughlin Donate $1,000September 29, 2023 - Mike and Gail McLaughlin of Goodyear, Arizona donated $1,000 to Knots for NICU club! After seeing the AZFamily CBS Channel 3 Pay It Forward news segment on Karis Wales, the generous couple felt compelled to join the effort, spread the goodness, and pay it forward themselves.
HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center Donation EventSeptember 25, 2023 - Knots for NICU donates 125 items to HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center, presented on behalf by Mitzie Warner of March of Dimes Arizona (featured in a Fox10 Arizona news spotlight). The handmade items (90 beanie hats, 22 headbands, 12 blankets,& 1 stuffed toy) made by student club members and collected from community volunteers from all over Arizona, from New Mexico, California, & the United Kingdom!
AMS at Basha High Club Fair EventAugust 2023 - In year 2 of club formation, Knots for NICU increased membership tenfold by signing up over 30 new members (all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders) during club fair!
Banner Desert Medical Center Donation EventMay 25, 2023 - Knots for NICU co-founders Karis, Diya, and Isha donate 124 items to their birth hospital Banner Desert Medical Center (BDMC) in Mesa, Arizona. The handmade items (111 beanie hats, 10 blankets, and 2 stuffed toys) were made by the three co-founders and collected from community members from all over Arizona, from Michigan, and even India!
