Karis Wales
Founder & President
Karis founded Knots for NICU in August 2022 in Chandler, Arizona as a seventh grader, driven by her own experience as a preemie NICU baby. As a freshman, Karis founded Knots for NICU Foundation as a non-profit in November 2024. A natural leader and innovator, she strives for excellence and giving back to the communities that support her. Karis always dreamed of growing her small club nationally, and looks forward to leading east coast operations by starting a chapter at the boarding school Choate Rosemary Hall. Karis thrives in the arts - excelling in piano, painting, drawing, and ceramics, and has her sights set on college working towards a career in Law.

Stacey Wales, Chairman of the Board
​Stacey is a business executive with 25 years of experience in information technology with a focus on application software. She has previously served as both a Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operations Officer at two separate startup companies focusing on high tech and innovation. Stacey is an avid volunteer and also serves as Chairman of the Board for a non-profit that fosters entrepreneurs.

Andrea Steele, Treasurer
​Andrea is a certified public accountant with over 25 years of accounting and finance experience. With expertise in corporate accounting, financial planning and analysis and merger & acquisitions, Andrea brings a deep understanding of financial governance and compliance to the Board of Directors. Andrea is committed to supporting Knots for NICU’s vision through sound financial oversight and decision-making.

Mitzie Warner, Director
As a preemie mom who champions endlessly for her son, ​Mitzie is a tireless advocate for NICU families. An early supporter of Knots for NICU, Mitzie is a passionate ambassador for the cause. She is an alumna of Arizona State University with extensive professional experience in marketing and public relations. Mitzie is a tireless volunteer for the HonorHealth Foundation and constantly gives back to others.
